Our Mission: GCJ.News is an independent, nonpartisan online news organization dedicated to serving the greater Ephrata, Washington community with fair and accurate reporting on issues and topics affecting area residents and the region. We provide information for free to the public through our website and an emailed weekly newsletter.
Who We Are: GCJ.News is a registered nonprofit governed by an independent board of directors with fiscal and strategic responsibilities. As a nonprofit, GCJ.news is led by a board of directors, which makes policy and provides oversight for the organization. Our board, staff, and supporters are long-time area residents with backgrounds in business, government, education, journalism, and technology. This team believes that local journalism is vital and should be freely accessible to inform and engage citizens, bring significant issues to light, and provide oversight of public agencies, officials, and decision-makers.
What We Do: GCJ.News provides information for free to the public through its website and an emailed weekly newsletter. For funding, we rely on donations, endowments, grants, corporate sponsorships, legal notices, and some retail advertising for financial support.
What We Cover:
- Ephrata-based governments and other regional, state, and federal agencies, legislatures, and decision-makers whose actions and operations have local impacts;
- Community and school activities including high school sports;
- Significant “breaking news” events; Features and personalities;
- Law enforcement and emergency service activities;
- Significant civil or criminal justice court matters;
- Local/county records, obituaries, public service announcements.
