EPHRATA — The Columbia Basin Foundation (CBF) is seeking community support to raise $28,000 in 28 days this month to help fund construction of a kitchen and gathering room for “His Helping Hands” resource center.

Over the past two years, CBF and generous donors have been instrumental in raising $750,000 to transform and modernize the former Grant County Journal newspaper building in Ephrata. It now houses Crossroads, which provides women’s health and pregnancy resources, and the adjacent-but-separate HHH resource center.

The center is open on Mondays and Saturdays from November through February. Staffed by volunteers, His Helping Hands is a local nonprofit outreach serving low-income and homeless persons during winter months by providing cold-weather clothing, blankets, sleeping bags, hygiene products, and more to anyone in need.

New additions include a walk-in shower, laundry facilities, industrial water heater, HVAC system, and modified office space. With those improvements completed, Columbia Basin Foundation is now embarking on its final fundraising campaign, “$28K in 28 Days.”

Donations will assist in converting a portion of the old press room into a kitchen and dining/gathering space later this year.

“For just $28, you can help us cross the finish line!” CBF said in a fundraising announcement, hoping to appeal to smaller individual donors along with larger benefactors.

To donate, or for more information, visit www.cbfcommunity.org.

“To show love for community, please consider giving a gift during February,” said sponsors.
