DRYLAND FARM LEASING OPPORTUNITY

The 640-acre farm is part of WSU's Land Legacy program. The farm was a gift to WSU and the donor's intention is that revenue generated by the farm be used to create an endowment to finance research associated with WSU's Precision Wheat Farming Program and Wheat Breeding Program.
Applications for this lease will be evaluated on the basis of the quality of the proposed management and stewardship plan. The recipient of this lease will be managing the farm to honor Ms. Daniel's legacy and research that benefits the wheat industry.
In the fall of 2012, the late WSU President Elson S. Floyd established the Land Legacy Council, a committee of agricultural leaders that advise the University on matters involving accepting and managing gifts of land. This advisory group ensures that properties gifted to WSU are retained and managed to support the priorities of the donor who made the gift. Members are spokespeople for the program and help WSU steward these gifts to support its land-grant mission of education, research and extension programs for generations to come.
