Liftoff successful with EHS 'Countdown to Cabaret!'
As the band cranked out "The Final Countdown," the fog machine was rolling, adding an appropriately smoky atmosphere to cap an entertaining evening at Cabaret 2025, which debuted Friday night in the Performing Arts Center at Ephrata High School.

EPHRATA – The many musical and comedic talents of Ephrata High School students were on display Friday evening with the debut of "Cabaret 2025,” an annual entertainment revue that brightened the Performing Arts Center.

The show combined a baker’s dozen of musical acts with an equal number of skits and sketches from emcees Payton Canfield, Katherine Hann, Daniel Kissler, Connor Leasher, Allison Moore, Payton Roberts, Cecilia Roth, and Sophia Tackett.

Audiences should be prepared for their memories of alien abductions, frightening coffee-shop encounters with (gasp!) teachers, glamorous secret agents in Quincy (yes, Quincy), preparing fliers of the friendly skies for an apparent plane crash, “bless her heart,” snake-bit pregnant squirrels, and that age-old family debate — is British actor Benedict Cumberbatch ugly, or not?

Performances continue again tonight (Saturday, Nov. 15) and again next weekend, Nov. 21-22, under the direction of EHS choral instructor Tim O’Donnell, producer Carly Morris, and the Tigers’ capable tech and stage crews.

To paraphrase Bogey: “Here’s looking at you, kids.”

Among the emcees helping count down the fun were Connor Leasher (left), Sophia Tackett, Payton Roberts, Katherine Hann, and Payton Canfield.
Nora Adams had the spotlight in "Snap" with bandmates Gabe Daley (guitar), Evangeline Springs (drums), vocalists Ella Somes and Connor Liffengren, Lila Buchmann (piano) and Belle Adams (bass).
Cecilia Roth (left) sang out the 1960s' classic "One Fine Day" with backing vocals by Leah Medina Umana, Katherine Hann, and Allison Moore, plus guitar work by Jaxon Fortner (below at left) and saxophonist Torin Goulet.
Tucker Simmons sang solo on "2004," accompanied by Gabe Daley on ukelele.
Tim O'Donnell (left), Aaron Loeffelbein, and Gus O'Donnell -- the "Ephrata Alums" -- shared their soaring harmonies on a sterling rendition of "Seven Bridges Road."
More harmonies, and collective percussion, performed by the EHS Chamber Choir during "Stomp on the Fire."
The countdown to a great evening was nearly complete when the all-kazoo band assembled on stage for a buzzing intro to "The Final Countdown." Well done!
