The Ephrata Tiger boys dropped two recent games, falling 70-30 to Grandview in a Central Washington Athletic Conference matchup last Friday, then suffering a 79-32 non-league road loss at Okanogan this Tuesday evening.

If the Tigers were cold offensively on their trip up north, host Okanogan was hot. The Class 2B Bulldogs erupted for 23 first-quarter points and kept their foot on the gas, cashing 10 three-pointers on the night.

Brady Hendrick led Ephrata with eight points and six rebounds. Cooper Black chipped in four points to go with four assists and three steals while Wyatt Schluckebier added five points coming off the bench.

Okanogan's Wadyn Brown finished with a game-high 30 points.

The Tigers ran into similar trouble four days earlier against Grandview, falling behind 22-4 after one quarter and turnovers plaguing their offense.

Hendrick carried the scoring load with 18 points, including sinking a three-pointer and converting five free throws. Cody Ogle added five points, hitting a three in the third quarter that sparked a brief Ephrata run, and Black dished out four assists.

Benson Bair recorded two blocks against Grandview. In both games, he contributed a combined seven boards off the glass.

Senior point guard Frankie Medina led the Greyhounds with 19 points.

Head coach Rick Walter said the focus heading into Friday's road game at Quincy is getting back to basics.

"Hoping we can control tempo and get ... on the same page defensively to make it tough for Quincy," Walter said. "(We) need some guys to knock down some open shots and help space the floor for our guys that can attack."

Now 3-12 on the season and 2-8 in league play, Ephrata's upcoming visit to Quincy will be a CWAC rematch after the Tigers defeated the Jacks 40-30 on Marty O’Brien Court in their initial meeting. Quincy is coming off a 77-52 victory over Othello.

The Tigers will then face their toughest test of the season this Saturday at Selah, which sits atop the CWAC standings at 11-0 and ranks No. 3 in the WIAA RPI.
