EPHRATA — The Ephrata volleyball team earned its first win of the season in dominant fashion Tuesday, Oct. 7, sweeping visiting Quincy in straight sets, 25-11, 25-11, 25-11.

The Tigers came out strong from the start, controlling the pace at the net and serving aggressively throughout the league match.

A jubilant Navi Kaur (6) celebrates with Haney (4) after taking a quick first set against Quincy.

Ephrata head coach Britney MacLeod praised her squad's teamwork on the Marty O'Brien home court.

MacLeod credited a strong showing by Izzlee Haney, who led the offensive attack with 17 kills, saying, "Izzlee had a great night and was a force to be reckoned with."

Tiger teammates Addison Vasquez contributed with six kills and Alexis Chornuk with five. Setter Alyssa Dymarkowski kept the offense moving with 29 assists and two ace serves while Faith Rodriguez served up six aces and added 16 digs to pace the defense.

"Faith Rodriguez set up so many opportunities for Alyssa Dymarkowski to feed our hitters, and it was a real confidence boost for the team to showcase all their hard work over the past few weeks,” MacLeod said.

Also on defense, Sidney Chornuk chipped in seven digs while Navi Kaur and Alexis Chornuk added two digs apiece and each blocked a shot.

MacLeod summed up the effort, saying, “It felt great to get a win under our belt. The girls did a fantastic job controlling the floor."

Tonight, Oct 9, the Tigers (1-3) hit the road to take on the WIAA’s Class 2A No. 2-ranked Ellensburg Bulldogs, who boast a 4-0 record in Central Washington Athletic Conference standings.
