EPHRATA — Maddax Iverson swept both hurdle events, Hunter Mills won the 200-meter dash and Caleb Fitts captured the 3,200 as Ephrata won the boys team title Saturday at the 50th annual Ray Cross Invitational track and field meet at Kiwanis Field.

In an opening ceremony, meet officials paid tribute to the legacy of Cross, who taught special education and coached football and boys and girls track for more than 30 years at Ephrata prior to his death on Nov. 26, 1972. The 1973 EHS yearbook remembered him this way: "The difference you have made to me lasts not a day, a week, a month. It lasts not only in your presence but is there even after you have gone... for memories last forever."

The Tiger boys scored 113 points to win the 20-team field. Prosser finished second with 66.5, followed by Toppenish with 60. On the girls side, Prosser won with 110.5 point, Brewster placed second (78) and Davenport third (59). Ephrata finished sixth (48).

Iverson won the 110 high hurdles in a personal-best 16.26 seconds and the 300 intermediates in a season-best 41.78. Jacob Reyes placed third in the 110s (17.02, SB) and fourth in the 300s (44.57).

Mills took the 200 in 23.71 and placed second in the 100 in 11.38. Andy Addink won the 400 in a season-best 52.54. Grandview's Brendan Kramer was the 1,600 champion- finishing in 4:33.09, and Tiger Niko Diaz sixth in a personal-best time of 4:55.95.

Fitts won the 3,200 in a personal-best 10 minutes, 11.71 seconds. Connor Liffengren finished 10th in 11:32.93 (PB).
