Trevino takes the helm of EHS softball after Wood’s 22-year run
Lesa Trevino, recently named Ephrata’s new head softball coach, works with local youth players.

EPHRATA — The Ephrata School District has announced the hiring of Lesa Trevino as the next head coach of the Ephrata High School softball program. Her appointment is expected to be finalized following school board approval on Monday, Oct. 27.

Trevino succeeds Heather Wood, who retired this summer after 22 seasons leading the Tigers.

A familiar name in local softball circles, Trevino has spent several years coaching both competitive and recreational teams in the Ephrata area, including the Ephrata Enforcers Softball Club and the Columbia Basin Youth Softball Association. She also works professionally as a land specialist for Grant Country PUD.

School officials say she is known for her leadership, deep knowledge of the game, and commitment to developing athletes’ skills while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship and a positive culture.

“Lesa’s passion for softball and commitment to player development make her an excellent fit for our program,” said Bryan Johnson, EHS athletic director and assistant principal. “Her coaching experience and connection to the local softball community will be a tremendous asset to our athletes and to Ephrata High School.”

In a press statement, the school district said Trevino is respected by peers and fellow coaches alike and has earned a reputation for building confidence in players and fostering growth both on and off the field. "Her coaching philosophy centers on effort, communication, and continual improvement, qualities she hopes to instill in the next generation of Ephrata softball players," the statement said.
