26 honors earned by 24 Tiger student athletes
According to EHS Athletic Director Bryan Johnson, following each sport season, CWAC coaches meet to elect all-conference teams through a voting process where coaches nominate their own players, but cannot vote for them.
“This year’s CWAC all-conference recipients highlight the impressive achievements of our student-athletes and we are proud to see them recognized by the conference," said Johnson.
The list of Ephrata's individual honorees and team records by sport were:
Soccer (4-4 league, 6-8-2 overall, 4th in CWAC):
Senior midfielder Delanie Killinger earned first-team recognition for the second straight year after leading the Tigers through a competitive CWAC season. Killinger has ascended at a steady clip during her Tiger soccer career. This is her third straight season on the All-CWAC honoree list – she received first-team nods both as a senior and a junior after being named to the second-team list as a sophomore in 2023.
This year, sophomore defender Alexis St. Mary also earned second-team recogniton while goalkeeper Aiyana Valle, forward Paige Murray and forward Brooklynn Sieverkopp were selected to the honorable mention list. Sieverkopp's selection marks her second consecutive year earning all-conference recognition, after making second team as a sophomore.
Reflecting on his team's 2025 campaign, Tigers head coach Gary Klepec said, "First thing that comes to mind as I look back on the season is how proud we are of the girls. (They) did a great job in placing fourth in our league. It's the best finish that we've had in quite a while."
The success came down to leadership, said Klepec, who commended Killinger and Valle for their impact beyond the statistics.
"Another excellent year of leaders," he said. "The girls have an excellent way of motivating."
Volleyball (2-6 league, 2-12 overall, 7th in CWAC standings):
Despite a challenging season, seniors Izzlee Haney (outside hitter) and Faith Rodriguez (defensive specialist) earned honorable mention recognition for their contributions to the Ephrata program this fall.
Head coach Britney MacLeod said she saw significant growth from both seniors.
"Izzlee grew tremendously this season offensively, it was fun to watch her work on more of a finesse shot instead of just powering through," MacLeod said. "To watch her work hard in practice on certain attacks and then execute them in a match was exciting!"
And MacLeod highlighted Rodriguez's defensive talent and court awareness.
"Faith is a defensive standout. She has such great intuition of the game and could be up against some of the biggest hitters in the league and handle the ball, no problem," said MacLeod. "She plays with grit and passion on every point and that speaks volumes to who she is as a person."
Cross Country (6-2 league, 3rd in CWAC standings):
The Tigers delivered one of their strongest lists of honorees, placing seven runners on all-conference cross country teams.
On the boys' squad, EHS senior Maddax Iverson ended a remarkable four-year run (so to speak) with his fourth consecutive all-conference selection, progressing from honorable mention as a freshman to second-team honors in each of his final three seasons.
Named to the first team, sophomores Caleb Fitts and Niko Diaz made dramatic time improvements this season after receiving honorable mention status as freshmen in 2024. This year, Fitts shaved nearly 45 seconds from his 2024 district race time (16:51.4) while Diaz lopped off 40 seconds from a year ago.
The future looks bright with Fitts and Diaz leading the way. Fitts paced the Tigers as a front-runner all season while Diaz gained speed and confidence with each meet.
Senior Cooper Black was named to the honorable mention list, making his way back after earning the same honor as a sophomore. Head coach Lyndsy Roberts also praised Black's leadership in his final season.
"He gave our team a level of athleticism and consistent leadership that inspired our underclassmen," Roberts said. "Being recognized as all-league in the CWAC is a significant accomplishment and one that is well deserved."
On the girls' side, Roberts saw transformation. He noted how junior Hannah Malone grew from a young newcomer into a team leader while sophomore Savannah Harper made remarkable year-over-year progress. No stranger to CWAC honors, Malone returned to the top list after her first-team selection as a freshman in 2023 and second-team recognition in 2024. Harper, in turn, made the jump from second team in 2024 to first team this season.
Another sophomore, Rebecca Wiser, who was new to the Tiger program this fall, brought determination that elevated everyone's performance while en route to a spot on the second-team CWAC list.
Football (5-3 league, 6-4 overall, 4th in CWAC standings):
The Tigers' solid grid season was validated in the all-conference voting, with 11 players recognized.
Senior tight end Calvin Lybbert and junior inside linebacker Owen Fitch led the way with first-team selections on offense and defense, respectively. Lybbert emerged as one of quarterback Brady Hendrick's most reliable targets, hauling in 17 catches for 233 yards and four touchdowns. Additionally, Lybbert received honorable mention for his work as an inside linebacker on defense. For Fitch, who anchored the Tigers' defense with more than 90 total tackles, it was a jump from honorable mention as a sophomore.
Seven more Tigers earned second-team recognition. Hendrick, the senior quarterback, elevated his status from honorable mention as a junior. Joining him on second-team offense were junior running back Carson Andrus, senior running back Jacob Reyes, junior wide receiver Mitchell Morford, senior offensive guard Brody Fleurkens, and senior offensive tackle Michael Park, who earned his second straight second-team nod.
Senior lineman Brice Strickler was a stalwart performer for Ephrata during his career. He was named to the second-team defense this year, after a 2024 season that saw him honored on first-team offense and second-team defense. Senior punter Caleb Moberg improved from honorable mention as a junior to second-team special teams in his final season.
Like Lybbert, Reyes earned honors on both sides of the ball, receiving honorable mention recognition on defense for his play at the cornerback position.
Head coach Patrick Mitchell praised his all-conference selections for rising to meet "big moments" throughout the season.
He pointed to Lybbert's two-way impact, catching multiple touchdown passes on consecutive drives and contributing defensively while playing through injury. Mitchell said Fitch on defense was consistently disrupting opponents while the offensive line of Park, Fleurkens and Strickler bulldozed CWAC defenses, helping Ephrata average 232 yards per game on the ground.
Beyond wins, losses and awards, Mitchell hopes his players carry forward lessons that extend far beyond Friday nights. "Football is the vessel we use for teaching responsibility, commitment, and selflessness," he said. "I hope they leave with the knowledge that if you want to be great, you are going to have to sacrifice and work hard to achieve it."
And, said Mitchell, "I hope they leave with a great appreciation for this awesome community and the efforts of parents, local businesses, teachers, fans, coaches and they take that with them and give back some day when it is their turn."
