Addink hat trick powers Ephrata past Grandview, 5-2
EPHRATA — Freshman forward Brooklynne Addink delivered a hat trick with three unassisted goals and Paige Murray booted two more scores as Ephrata powered past Grandview, 5-2, on Saturday.
It was the first win of the season for the Tigers, who carried a 3-1 lead into halftime and kept the momentum going in the second half, striking twice more to stay in control. Murray’s scoring came on one unassisted effort and one set up by Addink, who had a hand – metaphorically speaking – in four of Ephrata’s five goals.
The Tigers kept pressure on the visiting Greyhounds throughout, firing 20 shots on goal – 13 in the first half and seven in the second. Murray led the attack with four shots, while Addink, Skarlett Sanchez, and Jill Linehan each put up three.
The Tigers also generated four corner kicks and controlled play through the midfield, although head coach Gary Klepec noted the need for sharper finishing after several missed chances.
“We dominated possession and got plenty of looks,” Klepec said. “We just have to be more accurate in our shooting.”
Grandview broke through for two goals, but Ephrata goalkeeper Aiyana Valle, back in net after missing the previous match with a concussion, collected four saves for the Tigers.
Ephrata's season record improved to 1-2-1 with the win and will look to carry momentum into Tuesday’s 6:30 p.m. home match against Ellensburg.
