EPHRATA — They love to music. And music they will, on Monday, June 8.

That’s when four dozen members of the Ephrata Community Choir – plus a few friends – will share their collective talents during an eclectic evening concert open to the public.

Now in its eighth season, the choir is directed by founder Tim O’Donnell, also the local high school’s choral director, with accompaniment by Cecilia Couture.

Members of the non-auditioned choir, who began rehearsals in January, range in age from teens to retirees and come from many walks of life, assistant director Aaron Loeffelbein said on Tuesday.

“Over the years, among our ranks, we have welcomed teachers, librarians, baristas, counselors, bankers, lawyers, retailers, dentists, nurses, housewives, students, and more,” said Loeffelbein. “All coming together because, as our tagline says, ‘We love to music.’”

The singers will be performing six varied pieces: a classical piece sung in Latin, an Irish ballad sung partially in Gaelic, and more-contemporary numbers performed in English.

Scheduled soloists include soprano Mikaela Bosnar, alto Christie McLain, tenors Kelly Clear and Aaron Loeffelbein, and baritone Alec Lobe.

There will also be a few performances by “friends” of the choir, said Loeffelbein. “Which we like to keep a surprise. You’ll have to come to the concert to see them!”

Monday's hour-long concert will begin at 7 p.m., hosted at the Community Church of Ephrata, 54 K St. N.E. Admission is free with a suggested donation of nonperishable food items for the Ephrata Food Bank.

“It will be an evening of beautiful music,” Loeffelbein said. “The community should come because these people on stage have a deep and abiding love for this town and the people in it.”
