Donations sought locally to aid victims of Kaiser Canyon Fire
More than 1,000 people displaced by blaze.
EPHRATA — The Fabric Patch in Ephrata is sharing information about local relief efforts to aid residents in the Nespelem area who experienced widespread losses from the Kaiser Canyon Fire, which began July 16 and has burned more than 85,000 acres in Okanogan County.
According to reports, more than 1,000 people have been displaced by the blaze, which was caused by lightning. It has burned hundreds of buildings, including a community church, and is only 3% contained as of Thursday, July 23.
The Fabric Patch website includes information from the Colville Confederated Tribes regarding emergency needs which include bedding, clothing, household essentials, baby and personal hygiene items, non-perishable food, pet and livestock supplies, and more.
In Ephrata, goods can be dropped off at the Pita Pit, 26 Basin St. N.W., and Four Seasons Farm Service, 1410 Basin St. S.W.
