Ephrata volleyball still searching for first win after losses to East Valley, Selah
The Ephrata Tigers took a set off 10th-ranked East Valley (Yakima) Tuesday, Sept. 30, but came up short in a 3-1 Central Washington Athletic Conference loss.
After dropping the opener 25-17, the Tigers rallied to edge the Red Devils 28-26 in the second set. East Valley closed the night by taking the final two frames, 25-18 and 25-20.

Setter Alyssa Dymarkowski recorded 16 assists and Kennedy Schafer finished with a team-high 16 digs and three aces. Alexis Chornuk paced the front row with four blocks and Navi Kaur chipped in three.

The Tigers ran into even tougher competition Thursday, Oct. 2, falling in straight sets to CWAC leader Selah, 25-9, 25-8, 25-16.
Vasquez again led the Tigers’ attack with eight kills while Skyler Wood dished out 15 assists. Faith Rodriguez tallied a team-high 14 digs and Sidney Chornuk added 13. Schafer and Alexis Chornuk each served an ace, and the Tigers recorded five total blocks, including two from Alexis Chornuk and one each from Vasquez, Haney and Tessa Hausken.
The Vikings, one of the top teams in the WIAA’s 2A RPI standings, controlled the match from start to finish as Ephrata struggled to find consistency on offense.

Ephrata (0-8) will look for redemption Monday when it travels to Yakima for a rematch with East Valley (5-2).
