WENATCHEE — Ten Grant County riders opened the Washington State High School Equestrian Team season with two four-day meets in Wenatchee on March 12–15 and March 26–29.

The team draws students from Ephrata, Moses Lake, Warden, Moses Lake Christian Academy and regional homeschool programs, competing across performance, cattle, timed and team events.

Ephrata senior Roper Dillman was a top individual performer, winning Versatility, Individual Flags and Keyhole across the two meets; taking first in Steer Daubing at the second meet; and adding top-five finishes in Barrels and Pole Bending. She also anchored the Canadian Flags team with Ephrata senior Brooke Hurley, homeschooled junior Arabella Howe, and Moses Lake Christian Academy junior Jamie Fisher. The group placed first and second at the respective meets to earn a WAHSET State Meet berth in May.

Hurley placed second in Individual Flags and fifth in Steer Daubing at the opener, then ninth in Individual Flags and 11th in Pole Bending at the second meet.

Howe had a strong all-around showing, winning Figure 8 at the second meet and posting top-five finishes in Hunt Seat Equitation Over Fences, Barrels, Reining, and Breakaway Roping across both competitions.

Moses Lake junior Emree Andre won Driving at both meets and Saddle Seat Equitation at the second meet. Fisher won Individual Flags in March, placed second at the second meet and finished in the top five in Barrels at both meets and Keyhole at the second.

Freshmen Bergen Lauver and Isabella Dahl also competed. Lauver was part of the first-place Versatility team, and teamed with Howe, Andre and Terrell for ninth in the In-Hand Obstacle Relay. Dahl and Warden junior Hayleigh Shipley placed fourth in Team Cattle Sorting. Homeschooled junior Kiley Jensen and Moses Lake junior Amber Terrell teamed for 13th in Team Cattle Sorting at the second meet.

The team closes its regular season April 16–19 at the Grant County Fairgrounds in Moses Lake.
