MOSES LAKE – An estimated 150 military veterans and family members attended the annual Veteran Resource and Job Fair held Saturday at the Grant County Fairgrounds in Moses Lake.

Along with local organizations and providers, there were representatives on hand from county, state, and federal veterans administrations to share information about available services and employment opportunities.

Visiting vets could also enjoy a free lunch and snacks, get haircuts, have a chance to win raffle prizes, sign up for handmade quilts, pick up free cold weather gear, and more.

The event was organized by Grant County Veteran Stand Down in partnership with the Grant County Veterans Advisory Board.

Additional information is available online at www.va.gov, www.dva.wa.gov, and https://www.grantcountywa.gov/657/Veterans-Advisory-Board.

Representatives from the federal Veterans Administration were among the agencies on hand to provide information about services and employment opportunities for military vets.
David Maxwell (seated) got a free trim from volunteer barber Steve Scott, whose head count -- literally -- numbered about 20 by early afternoon. Both men are from Ephrata.
Kathy Stromboli (left), Nancy Latham, and Karen McGhgy are committee members of the Basin Piecemakers guild who focus on providing quilts to veterans. They have their work cut out: over 30 vets signed up on Saturday to receive one.
Surrounded by info, Jane Montaney manned a booth for the auxiliary of Ephrata-based American Legion Art Semro Unit 28.
At Saturday's event, vets and visitors could enjoy a free lunch and choral music provided Veterans Operation Creation, a Quincy-based nonprofit. The singers were (l-r) Galen Golay, Sawyer Golay, Grant Tevelde, Tom Parrish, and Cassi Nelson. VOC plans to host country singer-songwriter Coffey Anderson for a Veterans Day appearance at the Quincy High School Performing Arts Center. For information, contact the Quincy Valley Chamber of Commerce (call 509-787-2140).
