FRIDAY NIGHT FIREWORKS: EPHRATA'S HOMECOMING GAME PROMISES SPARKS ON AND OFF THE FIELD

EPHRATA — Ephrata High School will hosts its homecoming football game on Friday, Oct. 17, at Kiwanis Field, with the opening kickoff at 7 p.m.Scheduled activities include a halftime fireworks display, expected to start around 8:30 p.m. and lasting about five minutes. There will be intermittent loud booms, and school officials say residents with pets may want to have them indoors as a precaution during that time.The Tiger gridders are facing Toppenish in Friday’s matchup.

PROPERTY TAXES DUE OCT. 31

EPHRATA — Grant County taxpayers are reminded that payments of real, mobile home, and personal property taxes for the second half of 2025 are due by Friday, Oct. 31.

Online payments and information regarding parcels are available through the county website, www.grantcountywa.gov, under the “Treasurer” tab.

Mailed payments must be postmarked by Oct. 31 to avoid being delinquent. Tax statements were mailed earlier this year to property owners in Grant County.

“Please verify that all parcels you intend to pay were included on your statements. And please remember to sign your check,” said county treasurer Darryl Pheasant.

A drive-up drop box is also available in the northeast parking lot of the county courthouse, or payments can be made inside the treasurer’s office, which will be open during the noon lunch hour Oct. 20-31. Payments made by credit and debit cards are subject to additional processing fees.

HOLIDAY PLAY AUDITIONS

SOAP LAKE – The Masquers Theater will hold auditions Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 20-21, for performers in the upcoming stage production, “Christmas with Little Women,” directed by Marla Allsop.

The cast will include two male and seven female roles for ages 13 and older. No prior stage experience is necessary. Attendance is only needed at one of the two audition nights.

The play is scheduled to run the first two weekends in December. Adapted by Phyllis McCallum from the book by Louisa May Alcott, the story spans two holiday seasons with the March family.
