SOAP LAKE — Tickets are on sale now for the Masquers Theater’s upcoming production of “Anastasia: The Musical.”

Audiences are invited to experience the magic, romance, and adventure of the acclaimed play, which opens Friday, Oct. 16 and continues with weekend showings through Nov. 8.

Based on the animated film, the musical was brought to the stage by Tony Award-winning creators Terrence McNally, Stephen Flaherty, and Lynn Ahrens. It follows Anya, a young woman with no memory of her past, as she journeys in the 1920s from the streets of St. Petersburg, Russia to Paris, France in search of her identity and a place to call home.

Pursued by a ruthless Soviet officer, Anya enlists the help of a charming con man and a lovable former aristocrat. Together, they embark on an unforgettable adventure filled with mystery, romance, humor, and music. Memorable songs include “Journey to the Past,” “Once Upon a December,” “In a Crowd of Thousands,” and “My Petersburg.”

The Masquers production is directed by Rachel Bresee and Stacey Bresee, with Clark Dalton as music director.

“This cast is doing such a wonderful job. There are so many songs and lots of choreography but the cast has jumped right in to learn it all as fast as they can,” said Stacey Bresee.

In August, the Masquers announced that Emma-Jean Wydur had been cast as Anya. Lead roles also included Ben McLain as Dmitry, Jeremy Hansen as Vlad, Alec Lobe as Gleb, Auti Kirk as Lily, and Christie McLain as the Dowager Empress. The large cast also includes two dozen other members hailing from Nespelem to Ellensburg.

Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Fridays and 2 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. For advance tickets and additional information, visit the Masquers website.

The Masquers Theater is located at 322 E. Main Ave. in Soap Lake.

Cast members belt out the musical's closing number during a rehearsal Wednesday evening (Oct. 7).
