Masquers to stage cult-fave musical ‘Little Shop of Horrors’

SOAP LAKE – Get ready for the Mean Green Mother from Outer Space.

The Masquers invite audiences to feed their need for live theater this fall when they stage “Little Shop of Horrors,” the hit horror-comedy-rock musical that has been delighting audiences for decades.

Performances run Oct. 16 through Nov. 2 with 7 p.m. shows on Thursdays and Fridays and 2 p.m. matinees on Saturdays and Sundays. Tickets are on sale now.

Set in a struggling flower shop on Skid Row, “Little Shop of Horrors” follows nerdy Seymour Krelborn, a meek and lonely floral assistant who discovers a mysterious plant unlike any other.

Naming it “Audrey II” after co-worker and secret crush Audrey, Seymour quickly learns this strange and unusual botanical has a taste for human blood.

As Audrey II grows, so does Seymour’s fortune, fame -- and moral dilemma. The show blends quirky characters, 1960s-inspired doo-wop music, and gleeful horror in a campy, unforgettable theatrical experience, says director Stacey Bresee.

“Little Shop is the perfect mix …” Bresee continued. “It’s funny, creepy, and full of heart; exactly the kind of show that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats.”

The Masquers’ production features a talented cast of performers from across Grant County -- and beyond -- with actors traveling from Quincy, Moses Lake, Ephrata, Grand Coulee, Coulee City, Hartline, and even Ellensburg to bring this cult classic to life on stage.

Co-directed by Stacey and Clifford Bresee, with book and lyrics by Howard Ashman and music by Alan Menken, “Little Shop of Horrors” is a hilarious and haunting tale of love, ambition … and a blood-thirsty plant with world domination on its mind!

Tickets can be purchased at www.masquers.com. Early booking is recommended as seating is limited.
