EPHRATA — The Grant County Historical Museum and Village hosted its annual season-ending event, Pioneer Day, on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Volunteers manned the museum’s many restored buildings, where patrons could view memorabilia from the Old West and the lifestyles of Grant County’s early pioneers, including a one-room schoolhouse, mercantile store, old-time saloon, blacksmith shop and even a mock bank robbery shootout.

Here are a few photos of some of the volunteers and visitors seen at Saturday’s send-off. The museum will reopen next May for the 2027 season.

Rosa Nambo welcomed visitors to the museum's Artist House.
Next door, Cheryl Scott waited on customers inside the saloon.
Marshal Ron Tolison enjoyed a peaceful moment on the boardwalk outside the Marlin Jail until …
… shots rang out and gunsmoke filled the air as fellow lawman Ivan Schultz confronted desperadoes robbing the bank across the street.
All in a day’s work, Schultz seemed to say in the aftermath.
Cowgirl Loretta Kelley (standing at left) and others enjoyed the mock shootout.
The two bank robbers, Ray “Ephrim” Carvo (seated) and Monte “Hollywood” Biddle, relaxed until their next entertaining heist attempt.
Further down Main Street, Don Nutt lounged outside the museum’s pharmacy. An acclaimed artist who operates his Cariboo Trail Studio and art gallery in Coulee City, Don is also president of the Grant County Historical Society.

See you next year.
