Signups underway for Sage-N-Sun fun run, hoop tourney
Registration deadlines for both events.
EPHRATA — Feeling sporty this spring? Like running, or hooping it up?
If so, consider participating in two events planned in conjunction with Ephrata’s Sage-N-Sun community festival scheduled Friday, and Saturday June 12-13.
Here’s the low-down:
SAGE-N-SUN FUN RUN SLATED JUNE 13
EPHRATA — The Ephrata Lions Club will host the 36th Sage-N-Sun fun run on Saturday, June 13, with a start time of 8 a.m.
Registration and check-in for the 2-mile event will held from 6:30-7:45 a.m. in the Ephrata Middle School cafeteria, 384 A St. S.E. Vehicle parking will be available in the adjacent Splash Zone pool parking lot.
Both runners and walkers are welcome.
The advance registration fee (received by June 5) is $15 with finisher T-shirt, or $10 without. After June 5, the entry fee is $20 and $15 respectively.
Advance registration discounts are available for families: $40 for three members, $52 for four, $64 for five, and $12 for each additional member.
Entry forms are available at Ephrata City Hall, The Bookery, Sole Performance, and I-49 Designs, or download a printable form here.
The all-pavement course starts on Nat Washington Way adjacent to the Grant PUD Service Center, ascends the short-but-steep “hospital hill,” loops through a residential area on Ephrata Heights, then descends back down the hill and finishes on the Middle School playfield. Water and a mid-run time will be available at the 1-mile mark.
Something new this year: an electronic “chip” timing system will be used to record finishers’ times.
Awards will be presented to the top male and female finishers, with medals going to the top three placers in a dozen age categories.
Event sponsors include Ivan Garay and Culligan Water, Sole Performance, Brooks, Safeway, Walmart, Ephrata Police Department, Grant County Sheriff’s Office, and Vicious Cycle Racing Club.

3v3 BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
EPHRATA — The Ephrata Parks and Recreation Department is accepting registrations through Sunday, May 31 for the 3v3 basketball tournament (click the “special events” tab in the menu bar).
There are divisions for boys and girls in grades 3-4, 5-6, and 7-8, and a men’s division for players age 18 and older. Team registration fee is $130 plus tax; the person registering a team will need to create an account through the city’s CivicPlus Recl program.
Each division must have a minimum of six teams. If that threshhold is not met, registered teams will have the option to move up to the next division or withdraw and receive a refund.
Kids should be registered for the grade they will be entering in the upcoming 2026-27 school year. On the first day of the tournament, a parent or legal guardian must sign a waiver at the check-in tent before their child is allowed to play.
Courts will be stationed in front of the Grant County PUD main office, 30 C St. S.W. in Ephrata. Game times are 5-8:30 p.m. Friday, June 12, and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 13. There will also be 3-point shooting and vertical jump contests, both free.
“This exciting outdoor tournament will take place during the Sage-N-Sun Festival … bringing fast-paced competition and community spirit to the heart of the event,” say organizers
