Unified players hoop it up when Tigers host the Huskies

Ephrata hosted Othello on Jan. 7 for a unified basketball game. According to the WIAA, unified basketball is part of Special Olympics and partners differently-abled athletes with player helpers, with the focus inclusion and fun.

Ephrata hosted Othello on Wednesday, Jan. 7, in a spirited Unified Sports basketball game at Marty O'Brien Court.

Both the Tigers and visiting Huskies are among the schools participating in a collaboration between the Washington Interscholastic Athletic Association and Special Olympics in sports programs which partner differently-abled athletes with helpers.

With support and encouragement from fellow players, families, and fans, the enthusiastic matchups promote inclusion and provide every student with an opportunity to participate in one or more high school sports.
