Utility extension work on 'Hospital Hill'

Project completion expected in two weeks.

Travelers on Nat Washington Way adjacent to the Ephrata Middle School playfields will encounter one-lane travel as a contractor for the Grant County PUD continues work extending power and fiber-optic lines between Columbia Basin Hospital and A Street S.E. Ephrata city engineer Shawn O’Brien said the project will connect those lines to an existing conduit beneath the Burlington Northern Santa Fe rail line and continue past A Street. That extension, said Grant PUD spokesman Chuck Allen, will enable the utility district “to provide even more reliable power and fiber service for our customers in the Ephrata area.” The project is expected to be completed in about two weeks.
