WSP: two dead in I-90 wreck caused by wrong-way driver
Head-on collision occurred Saturday afternoon west of George.
GEORGE — A Seattle man driving the wrong way on Interstate 90 caused a head-on collision in Grant County that killed two passengers and injured himself and two others Saturday afternoon, reported the Washington State Patrol.
Brayan Reyes Alvarez, 24, is suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs and may face felony charges of vehicular homicide and assault, according to the WSP report.
The collision was reported at 2:35 p.m. about seven miles west of George.
Troopers said Reyes Alvarez was driving east in the freeway’s westbound lanes when his 2020 Dodge Charger sedan collided with a westbound 2022 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by William E. Tomalin, 71, of Kent.
Both vehicles cames to rest on the shoulder of the freeway.
Reyes Alvarez received unspecified injuries and was transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center. Two 23-year-old females in his car both sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. None of the three occupants was wearing a seatbelt.
One victim was identified as Yesenia Acosta Delgado. Her town of residence was unknown. Name of the other victim, from Tacoma, was not released pending notification of her next-of-kin, said troopers.
Tomalin and a passenger, Catherine M. Tomalin, 70, also of Kent, received minor injuries and were treated at the scene. Both were wearing seatbelts.
The Dodge and the Chevy, along with a boat towed behind the Tahoe, were all totaled and towed from the scene.
