Mixed results for Tiger soccer in four-game stretch
Ephrata boys soccer went 1-3 over four games last week and sits at 3-3 heading into today's home match against Wapato.
Tuesday, March 17 at Bridgeport, 6-0 (W)
Jason Aleman scored in the opening minute, assisted by Fernando Ramirez and the Tigers kept rolling. Avian Soto added a goal in the 13th minute, Diego Pichardo scored at 18 minutes off a Rafael Jimenez assist, and Yahizee Alvarado in the 38th minute, also assisted by Jimenez, to push the lead to 4-0 at the half. Aleman and Alvarado each added second-half goals to close it out. Ramirez assisted Aleman's second score; Junior Chavez on Alvarado's goal.
Thursday, March 19 vs. Moses Lake, 2-0 (L)
Moses Lake scored twice in the first half and didn't need more. Kevin Segura struck in the first minute and Filemon Sanchez Ramirez doubled the lead in the with 8 minutes left in the first half. The Tigers only managed six shots on goal; Ephrata keeper Isaac Blancas made 13 saves.
Saturday, March 21 vs. East Valley, 6-0 (L)
Undefeated East Valley of Yakima, now 5-0 and on top of the Central Washington Athletic Conference standings, led 3-0 at the half and didn't let up. Isaac Gutierrez opened the scoring in the 20th minute, Joshua Vega added one a minute later, and Eduardo Alcazar made it 3-0 before the break. Omar Morales added to the lead in the two minutes into the second half, Vega scored again in the 63rd minute, and Erick Rodriguez finished off the Red Devils scoring in the 68th. Ephrata took just five shots on goal.

Tuesday, March 24 at Othello, 3-2 (L)
Othello jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening seven minutes on goals from Orlando Farias at the 3-minute mark and Carlos Huaracha at 7 minutes. Rafael Jimenez got one back for the Tigers in the 34th minute to make it 2-1 at halftime.
The Tigers came out firing in the second half, putting 16 of their 19 shots up in the final 40 minutes. Fernando Ramirez found the net to tie at 2-2 with 12 minutes remaining in the contest. But Othello's Luis Farias answered four minutes later with the match-winner to seal the Huskies' 3-2 final score. Tiger keeper Barajas finished with 13 saves.
Ephrata hosts Wapato on today, March 26, kickoff is set for 6 p.m. The Wolves enter at 4-1, their only loss coming against Grandview, one of two CWAC opponents they've faced. Wapato beat Toppenish earlier this week.
