EPHRATA — Hundreds of young anglers and their families lined the shores of Oasis Park's Ping Pond early Saturday morning for the 54th Annual Ephrata Lions Club Youth Fishing Derby.

The free event offers kids 14 and younger an opportunity to reel in up to three stocked rainbow trout and receive prizes for the largest fish based on length, with weight as a tie-breaker.

Lettie Nelson took grand prize after netting a lunker that stretched the tape at 30-1/8 inches and tipped the scale at 12 pounds, 10 ounces. Awards were also given in three age groups: 7 and younger, 8–11, and 12–14.
