EPHRATA POLICE
At 10:54 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, police were notified of a structure fire in the 600 block of Basin Street N.W. A responding officer said the fire was confined to an oven. It was extinguished by firefighters.
An animal complaint was received at 12:22 p.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of K Street N.E. The reporting party said there were a number of stray cats in the area being fed by a neighbor. An officer contacted the neighbor, who acknowledged she has “a couple cats with kittens” but also feeds strays because “she feels bad for them.” The woman was advised not to do that.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 1:46 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, in the 200 block of F Street S.E. Police were told that an estranged male subject allegedly entered a residence without permission, choked a 33-year-old woman while trying to gain access to her phone, and threatened to kill her. Austin Jeffery Chamberlin, 37, Ephrata, was arrested without incident, booked into the Grant County Jail, and charged with second-degree assault (domestic violence) and harassment/threats to kill.
A disturbance was reported at 1:34 p.m. Tuesday in the 1300 block of Nat Washington Way. Police were told that a male subject was scaring employees at the Ephrata Walmart and threatening to kill people. A family member was able to calm the individual down before officers arrived, and store personnel declined to trespass him from the property at that time.
A traffic incident was reported at 11:27 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of K Street and Second Avenue N.E. Police were told that a non-injury collision occurred 15 minutes earlier involving a vehicle and a person on an electric scooter. The motorist did not remain at the scene. An incident number was provided to the reporting party.
A welfare check was requested at 11:24 a.m. Sunday, May 24, regarding a male subject observed sleeping on the sidewalk at the intersection of Basin Street and First Avenue N.W. An officer contacted the man, who declined any assistance. He was advised it would be better to find a “less alarming place to relax.” The man agreed.
Following a traffic stop at 9:32 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, in the 1300 block of Nat Washington Way, Robin D. Carlberg, 36, Soap Lake, was cited for driving with a suspended license and no proof of vehicle liability insurance.
A two-vehicle, non-injury collision was reported at 6:37 p.m. last Friday, May 22, on Third Avenue S.W. near the intersection of Alder Street S.W. Police said Tyler C. Raine, 21, Ephrata, had slowed from traffic when his 2011 Ford F150 pickup was struck in the back by a 2015 Ford Explorer driven by Elias Lopez, 37, Ephrata. Both vehicles sustained reportable damage but remained driveable.
Following a traffic stop at 11:30 a.m. last Friday, May 22, on Airport Street S.E., police determined the driver was wanted on outstanding warrants for driving with a suspended license. Michael Warren Arredondo, 31, Moses Lake, was taken into custody and booked into the county jail.
A trespassing incident was reported at 10:21 a.m. last Friday, May 22, in the 1800 block of Basin Street S.W. Police were told that a male subject — described as unfriendly — was entering the Best Western Rama Inn daily to eat breakfast and use a motel computer. Officers located the man and informed him that he was banned from the premises.
While on patrol at 2:11 a.m. last Friday, May 22, an officer contacted a male subject in the 300 block of Basin Street S.W. Jerry Ross Pitts, 37, Ephrata, was taken into custody and booked into jail after advising he was wanted on an outstanding court warrant, which was confirmed.
SOAP LAKE POLICE
A theft was reported at 6:44 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, in the 100 block of South Daisy Street. Police were told that a male subject had stolen merchandise from the Akins grocery store. The suspect was identified in a video clip and a report was submitted to the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of a charge of third-degree theft.
At 6:56 a.m. Wednesday, an officer responded to the 600 block of South Buttercup Street and contacted a 42-year-old Soap Lake woman who was attempting to get her juvenile son into her vehicle. The boy said he had left home the prior evening because he was upset. After talking with the officer, the boy agreed to get into the car. The woman was provided with information about behavioral services available for her son.
Following a traffic stop at 3:17 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, near the intersection of Aster Street and Sixth Avenue S.E., Francisco Ortega, 18, Ephrata, was cited for failure to transfer vehicle title and no proof of vehicle liability insurance.
Following a traffic stop at 3:12 p.m. Monday, May 25, near the intersection of State Route 28 East and Road 20-NE, Kimberly Buche, 44, Moses Lake, was cited for driving with a suspended license, expired license tabs, and no proof of vehicle liability insurance.
GRANT COUNTY SHERIFF
The following individuals were booked into the Grant County Jail:
At 5:45 a.m. Thursday, May 28, deputies located a wanted subject in the 1000 block of North Stratford Road. Israel David Osborne, 48, Moses Lake, was taken into custody on an outstanding district court warrant and arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine when drugs were allegedly found on his person during the jail intake.
On Wednesday, May 27, Gadge E. Reeves, 19, Ephrata, was taken into custody at an unspecified location and booked on warrants related to violation of a court protection order, hit-and-run (attended vehicle damage), fourth-degree assault, driving while license suspended, and minor in possession or consumption of alcohol.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, in the 4500 block of Road C-NE. Authorities were told that a female subject arrived at the location and said she had been assaulted. Deputies arrested Marco Diaz, 40, Moses Lake, on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and an outstanding felony warrant. Rita Lozano, 23, Moses Lake, was arrested on suspicion of making false or misleading statements to police and an outstanding state Department of Corrections detention warrant.
A report of a suspicious person was received at 8:47 p.m. Tuesday, May 26. The complainant said a female acquaintance was at the location in violation of a court no-contact/protection order. Brandy Michelle Guzman, 48, Moses Lake, was taken into custody for the alleged violation.
The following individuals were separately arrested in the vicinity of Silica Road and Road 1-NW over the Memorial Day holiday weekend for alleged possession, manufacture or distribution of controlled substances: Kyle Andrew Sexton, 27, Hayden, Idaho; Kalvin Michael Thomas, 29, Spokane; Nicholas Taylor Outley, 29, no town listed; David Leroy Denasha, 37, no town listed; Jackson G. Allred, 28, no town listed.
At 11:51 p.m. Monday, May 25, authorities received a 911 hangup call in which someone could be heard saying, “Get off me.” Deputies determined a location based on GPS coordinates and arrested Iurii Nychyporuk, 42, Moses Lake, on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and unlawful imprisonment (domestic violence).
A domestic disturbance was reported at 9:26 p.m. Monday, May 25. Authorities were told that a male family member was “trying to start problems.” Deputies responded to the 600 block of Tradewind Way SW and arrested Leonel Acosta Urcino, 51, Desert Aire on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).
At 3:44 p.m. Sunday, May 24, deputies responded to the 100 block of Moses Lake Avenue NW in Lakeview Park and arrested Cody Wayne Miller, 34, Soap Lake, on suspicion of second-degree criminal trespassing.
At 2:58 p.m. Sunday, May 24, deputies located a wanted subject near the intersection of Dick and McLaughlin Roads in Cascade Valley. Tejay Ray Beaty, 40, Moses Lake, was taken into custody on an outstanding superior court warrant.
A disturbance was reported at 1:21 p.m. Sunday, May 24, in the 11000 block of State Route 28 West. The complainant said a female relative kept taking a phone charger and an argument ensued. Andrea Tryon, 55, Quincy, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).
At 7:36 p.m. Saturday, May 23, deputies located a wanted subject in McCosh Park west of Moses Lake. Tomas Quintanilla, 39, Moses Lake, was taken into custody on two outstanding district court warrants.
Following a traffic accident reported at 12:50 p.m. Saturday, May 23, involving a van crashing into some rocks, a male subject transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center for treatment was described as uncooperative and disruptive. Erick Eduardo Montelongo Ruiz, 32, no town listed, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, driving with a suspended license, interfering with a healthcare facility, and resisting arrest.
Authorities were notified at 9:10 a.m. Saturday, May 23, that a driver had gotten his Chevrolet pickup stuck after allegedly trying to run another motorist off the road near the intersection of Road 1-SW and South Frontage Road West. Alberto Aguilar Mendez, 22, George was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and driving with a suspended license.
Authorities were notified at 3:10 a.m. Saturday May 23, that a female subject threw a rock which struck another individual in the head at a location in the 5100 block of Road 5-NE near Moses Lake. Breyana Josie Marie Overby McGeary, 28, Winlock, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree assault.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 11:06 p.m. Friday, May 22, in the 100 block of East Deacon Avenue in George. The complainant said her partner had been abusive and broke her phone. Uriel Mendieta Camacho, 29, George, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and third-degree malicious mischief (domestic violence).
At 8:38 p.m. Friday, May 22, deputies responded to a public service call at an unspecified location. They contacted a male subject, 26-year Armando Cardenas of Quincy, and determined he was wanted on an outstanding superior court warrant for domestic assault, malicious mischief, and residential burglary. He was taken into custody.
Authorities were notified at 2:50 a.m. Friday, May 22, of a vehicle driving in the oncoming lanes on Interstate 90 near Moses Lake. Edwardo Raul Veliz, 42, Othello, was located and arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle.
Authorities were notified at 11:23 p.m. Thursday, May 21, of a pedestrian in the roadway causing a disturbance at the intersection of West Broadway and West Commerce Way at Moses Lake. Deputies located a wanted female subject, 29-year-old Yuridia Benita Marmolejo of Moses Lake, who was taken into custody on a state Department of Corrections detention warrant.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 11:23 p.m. Thursday, May 21 in the 8900 block of Westover Boulevard near Moses Lake. The complainant said she had just been punched in the face by her son. Nathaniel W. Thomas, 18, Moses Lake, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).
Deputies located a wanted subject at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, May 21, in the 9800 block of Maple Drive NE. Richard Wayne Cheromiah, 42, Moses Lake, was taken into custody on two outstanding district court warrants.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 11:10 a.m. Thursday, May 21 in the 200 block of Moses Lake Avenue NW in Lakeview Park. Authorities were told that a female subject was driving in an erratic manner and allegedly involved in a physical altercation. Danielle Rose Linney, 42, Soap Lake, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).
A domestic disturbance was reported at 4:47 a.m. Thursday, May 21 in the 14900 block of Fifth Street NE near Moses Lake. The complainant said a male acquaintance had entered her camper and used a hammer to damage property. Waymond Survell Turner, 40, Moses Lake, was arrested on suspicion of third-degree malicious mischief (domestic violence).
A domestic disturbance was reported at 3:18 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, in the 2000 block of Road 14.6-NW. Quinn Shane Turner, 19, Ephrata, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).
A weapons violation was reported at 1:52 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, in the 16000 block of Stratford Road NE. The complainant said a male subject had just pointed a firearm at his father. Colby Hugh Ralton, 30, Moses Lake, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault.
At 3:41 p.m. Tuesday, May 19, deputies located a wanted subject in the 400 block of West Main Street in Coulee City. Benito Uriostegui, 24, Coulee City, was taken into custody on a Renton municipal warrant for unlawful discharge of a firearm.

EPHRATA POLICE
While on patrol at 9:25 a.m. Wednesday, an officer observed a wanted subject walking near the intersection of Fifth Avenue S.E. and Nat Washington Way. Antonio Tavera Corona, 38, Soap Lake, was arrested without incident on an outstanding district court warrant and booked into the Grant County Jail.
A report of harassment was received at 8:28 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, in the 100 block of Alder Street. The complainant told police that she believed friends of her ex-husband were possibly harassing her and she requested extra patrols. Officers advised her to place security cameras at her home to aid officers in identifying the unknown subjects.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 6:41 a.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of E Street N.E. The complainant said neighbors were heard fighting again and a male suspect had left the location. Officers contacted the alleged victim, who said she had been struck in the head but declined to provide further details. The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Gadge E. Reeves of Quincy, was located and booked into jail on suspicion of violating a court no-contact/protection order and an outstanding district court warrant.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 5:22 a.m. Tuesday at a residence on Linda Ridge Loop N.E. The complainant said a male acquaintance had pulled her out of bed and tried to force her out of the house. During the altercation, the woman said she bit the suspect on the shoulder and he struck her several times with an open hand. Officers arrested David Navarro Nunez, 29, Ephrata, on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and booked him into jail.
A report was received at 8:15 p.m. Monday of a weapon being displayed on F Street S.E. The complainant said he stopped a passenger car containing four juveniles who had been shooting a water-gel gun at another vehicle. An officer responded and talked to the subjects about the consequences of their behavior. All said they understood.
A theft was reported at 9:43 a.m. Monday in the 600 block of Basin Street N.W. Police were told that unknown subjects were observed on surveillance video siphoning gas overnight from a work truck parked at the Ephrata Senior Thrift store. It was estimated that 15 gallons of fuel was stolen.
SOAP LAKE POLICE
A report of trespassing was received at 3:21 p.m. last Friday, May 15, in the 100 block of Second Avenue S.W. Employees at McKay Healthcare and Rehabilitation advised police that a male subject was seen in a resident’s room the prior evening after being warned on multiple prior occasions not to be there after visiting hours. The same individual was reportedly sleeping in his vehicle in the parking lot. Police contacted the man and trespassed him from the premises.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 11:30 p.m. last Thursday, May 14, in the 100 block of North Ginkgo Street. A 22-year-old woman told police that she was slapped in the face by a male acquaintance who left the scene. Officers were unable to immediately locate the suspect, identified as a 27-year-old Ephrata man. A report was filed with the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office to consider a charge of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) against the suspect.
A disturbance was reported at 8:31 p.m. last Thursday, May 14, in the 100 block of North Evergreen Street. Police were told that a male subject had been fighting with another individual. Officers determined the suspect, 30-year-old Logan Dechenne of Soap Lake, was wanted on an outstanding Grant County District Court warrant for failure to appear. Dechenne was taken into custody.
GRANT COUNTY SHERIFF
A weapons violation was reported at 1:52 p.m. Wednesday at an unspecified location. The complainant said a male subject had pointed a gun at his father. Deputies arrested the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Colby Hugh Ralton of Moses Lake, on suspicion of first-degree assault. He was booked into the Grant County Jail.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 10:37 a.m. Sunday in the 5000 block of North Frontage Road West. The complainant said she was pushed by a male acquaintance during an argument that turned physical. The suspect, 32-year-old Isamar Herrera Sarabia of Ephrata, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and booked into the county jail.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 2:47 a.m. Sunday in the 7000 block of Cox Street N.E. near Moses Lake. Authorities were told that a male subject had struck a female acquaintance in the face, and hit another individual. Marcos Hernandez Parada, 27, Moses Lake, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of fourth-degree assault and fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).
A report of suspicious activity was reported at 1:53 p.m. last Friday, May 15, near the intersection of Roads 5-NE and N-NE near Moses Lake. Deputies responded to the location and contacted a male subject who was wanted on seven outstanding district court warrants. Jimmy Ray Hughes, 59, Othello, was taken into custody and booked into jail.
A theft was reported at 12:43 p.m. last Friday, May 15, in the 900 block of Road 12-SW near Royal City. Deputies were told that farm chemicals and pesticides valued at $50,000 had been stolen from a storage building. No suspects were identified.
A theft was reported at 9:54 p.m. last Wednesday, May 13, in the 9300 block of Goodrich Road SE near Moses Lake. The complainant said three four-wheelers, a power compactor, a tractor battery, a plow, and a hitch had been stolen at some point between Wednesday and the prior Monday. No suspects were identified.
The following law enforcement reports were posted Friday, May 16, 2026:
EPHRATA POLICE
A theft attempt was reported at 10:51 p.m. Thursday, May 14, in the 100 block of E Street S.E. Authorities were told that a male subject appeared to be picking the door lock of parked vehicle. The suspect fled when the complainant came outside. Police and Grant County sheriff’s deputies responded and deployed a K9 dog. The suspect, identified as a 14-year-old boy, was located and taken into custody on suspicion of vehicle prowl, second-degree malicious mischief, and attempted theft of a motor vehicle.
A burglary was reported at 5:37 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, in the 500 block of D Street S.E. The complainant said his enclosed trailer parked at a construction site had been broken into sometime during the past two weeks. Tools valued at $3,000 were missing. Entry was gained by removing screws around the primary door. No suspects were identified.
A two-vehicle collision was reported at 3:56 p.m. Monday, May 11, near the intersection of Basin Street and First Avenue S.W. Police said Sharon M. Gunderson, 79, Soap Lake, had slowed her 2024 Toyota RAV4 when it was struck in the back by a 2002 Chevrolet pickup driven by Mark A. Stranland, 64, Ephrata. Both vehicles received reportable damage. The two drivers exchanged information.
A report of a suspicious person was received at 3:39 p.m. Sunday, May 10, on Empire Road NW. Police said they contacted a male subject who allegedly provided a false name three times. When taken into custody for making false statements to a public servant, the suspect — identified as 18-year-old Frank Robert George of Tacoma — allegedly resisted being searched and twice tried to bite an officer on his forearm. George was booked into the Grant County Jail on charges of false statements, resisting arrest, and two counts of attempted third-degree assault of a law enforcement officer.
A two-vehicle, non-injury collision was reported at 3:07 p.m. last Friday, May 8, on Frey Road NW. Police said a 16-year-old Soap Lake girl parked on the shoulder attempted to enter the roadway. Her 2016 Ford Fusion struck a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Leanna M. Neville, 43, Ephrata, who was passing by.
While on patrol at 4:28 a.m. last Friday, May 8, an officer observed a wanted subject in the 1300 block of Basin Street S.W. Francisco Amezcua Torres, 27, Ephrata, was taken into custody on an outstanding state Department of Corrections detention warrant and booked into the county jail. Soap Lake police assisted at the scene.
While on patrol at 2:42 a.m. last Friday, May 8, an officer contacted a male subject asleep in a vehicle in the 1300 block of Nat Washington Way. The officer allegedly observed a backpack containing clear bags with white powdery residue and a red bag containing glass smoking devices. The vehicle was impounded pending issuance of a search warrant to look for illegal drugs. The incident remained under investigation.
SOAP LAKE POLICE
A domestic disturbance was reported at 8:31 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at an unspecified location. Soap Lake and Ephrata officers responded and determined no crime had been committed. However, a male subject identified as 30-year-old Logan Gary DeChenne of Soap Lake was wanted on an outstanding district court warrant. He was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Grant County Jail. A female subject was provided with information about New Hope domestic protection services.
While on patrol at 7:40 p.m. Monday, May 11, an officer observed a wanted subject in the 300 block of South Division Avenue. Julius De Vonte Scott King, 26, Moses Lake, was taken into custody on an outstanding district court warrant and booked into the county jail.
A theft was reported at 4:47 p.m. Sunday, May 10, in the first block of South Fir Street. The complainant said the license plate had been stolen off his boat trailer.
Jesus Villalba Monrroy, 41, Soap Lake, was cited on suspicion of driving under the influence following a traffic stop for alleged speeding at 9:51 p.m. Saturday, May 9, in the 100 block of South Daisy Street.
At 4 p.m. Saturday, May 9, police were informed of a possible hit-and-run incident near the intersection of Fifth Avenue and South Fern Street. An officer contacted the owner of a vehicle and determined he was wanted on an outstanding district court warrant. Jeremy Allen White, 37, Soap Lake, was taken into custody and booked into jail.
At 6:42 p.m. last Thursday, May 7, an officer observed a wanted subject in the 200 block of Second Avenue S.E. Dawn M. Gilbert, 41, Moses Lake, was taken into custody on an outstanding court warrant and booked into jail.
A verbal dispute was reported at 2:27 p.m. last Thursday, May 7, in the 100 block of Fifth Avenue S.E. An officer contacted a male subject whose brother was staying with him after being released from a drug treatment program. The brother acknowledged he had smoked marijuana and wanted to return to the treatment program. It was determined that the subject, 18-year-old Luis Panuco Rojas of Royal City, was wanted on an outstanding district court warrant. He was taken into custody and booked into jail.
GRANT COUNTY SHERIFF
A theft was reported at 3:44 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, in the 2200 block of Elgin Road NE near Moses Lake. The complainant said a male subject had just stolen her vehicle. Deputies located a suspect, 59-year-old Gregory Wayne Howes of Moses, who was arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail on suspicion of third-degree theft and theft of a motor vehicle.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 6:36 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, in the 200 block of Loring Drive NE near Moses Lake. Authorities were told that a male subject was “freaking out” under the influence of drugs and had assaulted a male family member. The suspect barricaded himself inside a travel trailer, but deputies and Moses Lake police deployed “flash bang” devices that prompted the suspect to exit the trailer. Michael Dean Sheppard, 34, Moses Lake, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and booked into the county jail.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 9:54 p.m. Monday, May 11 in the 4000 block of Apple Lane NE near Moses Lake. Authorities were told that a male subject assaulted his girlfriend and threw her possessions out in the yard. Paul Alex Martinez, 43, Moses Lake, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of second-degree assault (domestic violence).
A theft was reported at 2:07 p.m. Monday, May 11 in the 13000 block of Road H-SE near Royal City. Authorities were told that farm insecticide chemicals valued between $10,000 and $15,000 had been stolen from a storage building over the weekend. No suspects were immediately identified.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 5:07 p.m. last Friday, May 8, in the 11000 block of Road D.4-SE near Royal City. Bernardo Ruiz Cortes, 50, no town listed, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).
The following law enforcement reports were posted Saturday, May 9, 2026:
EPHRATA POLICE
Police located a wanted subject on Friday, May 8. Francisco Amezcua Torres, 27, no town listed, was taken into custody on a state Department of Corrections detention warrant and booked into the Grant County Jail.
A fraud report was received Wednesday, May 6, from a resident who said her debit card had been used without permission for retail purchases in the Ephrata area. She was not sure about pursuing criminal charges, but agreed to further discuss the matter and provide bank documentation to police.
A report of unusual circumstances was received at 11:46 a.m. Wednesday, May 6. Police were told that a male subject had made multiple phone calls to a local bank, claiming an unspecified “they” were intent on killing him. A bank official said the man claimed he was at a café somewhere in Moses Lake, and that he was possibly intoxicated because his speech was slurred.
A harassment incident was reported at 10:09 a.m. Wednesday, May 6 in the 200 block of Mocliff Road. The complainant said her ex-boyfriend accessed her personal information and she had to change passwords on her devices. The woman was advised to seek a court no-contact order if the behavior continued.
At 9:15 a.m, on Wednesday, May 6, officers located a wanted subject at her residence. Nicole Renee Dudley, 36, Ephrata, was taken into custody on outstanding district court warrants and booked into jail.
A non-injury, non-blocking traffic accident was reporte at 12:48 a.m. on Wednesday, May 6 in the 1400 block of Basin Street S.W. Police said Isabella D. Amaya, 21, Quincy, fell asleep while driving and her 2017 Dodge Charger struck two mailboxes. The car was towed from the scene.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 1:14 p.m. Tuesday, May 5 in the 1100 block of Second Avenue N.E. Police were told that a 45-year-old Ephrata man got into an argument with a juvenile female and struck her several times with a belt, leaving marks. The man fled the residence prior to the arrival of officers, and an attempt-to-locate advisory was issued to area law enforcement.
A theft attempt was reported at 12:13 a.m. Monday, May 4, in the 100 block of D Street S.W. The complainant advised that an unknown male subject was observed trying to steal gas from two vehicles. When confronted, the suspect fled in a white Mitsubishi vehicle, police were told.
A report of unusual circumstances was received at 2:25 p.m. Sunday, May 3, in the 300 block of Sixth Avenue S.E. The complainant said a male subject has been in the vicinity and hitting golf balls from a field located behind residential homes. The complainant said one golf ball hit the roof of his shop and another landed near where his family was playing. The complainant said he contacted the golfer and advised him of the concerns.
A two-vehicle collision was reported at 5:53 p.m. Saturday, May 2, in the 300 block of Basin Street S.W. Police said Josh R. Richmond, 24, Ephrata, had stopped for traffic and his 2019 Subaru Outback was struck by a 2021 Chevrolet pickup driven by Ethan W. Welch, 25, Watson, Illinois. The wreck temporarily blocked the southbound lane of Basin Street.
A disturbance was reported at 5:33 p.m. Saturday, May 2, in the 1300 block of Basin Street S.W. Police were told that an unidentified male subject was yelling and damaging a bicycle in the parking lot of the Chukar Hills convenience store. The man left the location prior to the arrival of officers.
A verbal disturbance was reported at 5:17 p.m. Saturday, May 2, in the first block of G Street N.E. Police were told that a male subject appeared to be following a woman with a baby. Officers contacted the couple and were told they had a verbal altercation at a downtown business and the woman decided to walk home. The dispute continued and the man took the baby and walked off from the location.
SOAP LAKE POLICE
While on patrol at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, an officer observed an unleashed German shepherd running in and out of traffic at the intersection of Daisy Street and First Avenue. The officer retrieved the animal, contacted its owner in a nearby van, and informed him that he would be cited for allowing the dog to run at large.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 9:24 p.m. Tuesday, May 5 in the 700 block of Third Avenue. An officer contacted a 34-year-old Ephrata woman who said she had been assaulted by her ex-boyfriend. Police were unable to immediately locate the suspect, identified as a 36-year-old Soap Lake resident. A report was submitted to the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of criminal charges.
While on patrol at 11:38 a.m. Saturday, May 2, an officer observed black smoke in the air and located a structure fire near the intersection of First Avenue N.E. and Elder Street. Police provided perimeter security for firefighters responding from Grant County Fire Districts 7 of Lakeview and 13 of Ephrata and the Ephrata Fire Department.
A disturbance was reported at 3:10 p.m. last Friday, May 1 in the 600 block of Third Place S.E. An officer contacted two parties involved in a neighbor dispute over a civil matter. They were informed that if the behavior continued, they could seek an court-issued anti-harassment order.
While on patrol at 1:16 p.m. last Thursday, April 30, an officer observed a wanted subject walking near the intersection of South Division Avenue and Elder Street. Gabriel Guzman, 33, Ephrata, was taken into custody on an outstanding district court warrant and booked into the county jail.
The following individuals were cited for driving with suspended licenses following traffic stops over the past week: Samuel Engelhardt, 40, Ephrata; Nicole McMahon, 45, Quincy; Kolby Brown, 32, Ephrata.
GRANT COUNTY SHERIFF
A disturbance was reported at 9:36 p.m. Thursday, May 7, at a location in the Moses Lake Sand Dunes. The complainant said a driver in a Jeep was trying to run over his campsite. Deputies located a suspect, identified as 31-year-old Ryan Anthony Scott of Grain Valley, Missouri. Scott was arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence and an out-of-state warrant.
Following a traffic stop at 10:49 a.m. Thursday, May 7, at an unspecified location, Raymond Jacob Sicking, 35, Grand Coulee, was arrested on an outstanding district court warrant and booked into the county jail.
At 7:58 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, deputies responded to a vehicle accident on Dodson Road between Road 11-SW and Frenchman Hills Road. A semi truck and trailer hauling potatoes had rolled, blocking the roadway. No injuries were reported. Traffic was temporarily detoured until the truck and trailer could be towed from the scene.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 11:31 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, in the 4200 block of Airway Drive NE near Moses Lake. Authorities were told that a male subject had entered a residence in violation of a court no-contact/protection. Deputies and Moses Lake police responded and a K-9 dog located the suspect hiding behind a nearby dumpster. Oscar Alexander Ocon Hernandez, 26, Moses Lake, was arrested for the violations and booked into the county jail.
Following a traffic stop at 8:58 p.m. Tuesday, May 5 in the 9900 block of US 2 East, Sherry Lynn Wyman, 61, Coulee City, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, driving while license suspended, motor vehicle alcohol-ignition violation, and outstanding district court warrants. She was booked into the county jail.
At 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, deputies located a wanted subject in the 2100 block of Road M-SE near Moses Lake. Nicholas Christopher Boyd, 36, Moses Lake, was taken into custody and booked into jail on a state Department of Corrections detention warrant.
At 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 5, deputies located a wanted subject in the 1200 block of Mather Drive NE near Moses Lake, Daniel Patrick Johnson, 67, Moses Lake, was taken into custody and booked into jail on an outstanding district court warrant.
Authorities received a 911 call at 8:01 p.m. Monday, May 4. The caller said a male subject slapped a female acquaintance and was trying to fight two other individuals, including a minor. The suspect, described as 6-foot-4 and weighing 310 pounds, reportedly stopped after one of the alleged victims hit him with a shovel. Deputies responded to the Sand Hollow area in the 11000 block of State Route 243 South. The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Luis Erasmo Espinoza of Sumner, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and two counts of fourth-degree assault.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, in the 11000 block of Road 15-NE. The complainant said a male acquaintance grabbed her arm and shoved her. Marvin Douglas Taft, 57, Moses Lake, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and booked into jail.
A disturbance was reported at 6:24 a.m. Sunday, May 3, in the 1800 block of Kittelson Road at Moses Lake. Authorities were told that a male subject was upset about a bus ticket, causing issues and yelling at employees while refusing to leave Ernie’s Truck Stop. Deputies responded and arrested John Michael Bowers, 31, Spokane, on suspicion of first-degree criminal trespass. He was booked into the county jail.
At 9:27 a.m. Saturday, May 2, authorities were told that a male subject who appeared to be highly intoxicated was revving the engine and trying to move a vehicle on the South Frontage Road West in George. Deputies responded and arrested Francisco Juan Muy-Pacaja, 49, Quincy, on suspicion of physical control of a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. He was booked into jail.
A disturbance was reported at 1:02 a.m. Saturday, May 2, in the 1400 block of West Craig Street near Moses Lake. Authorities were told that a couple could be heard arguing and that a female subject allegedly threw a phone and swung at a former boyfriend. Ruby Blancita Rodriguez Santiago, 27, Moses Lake, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and third-degree malicious mischief (domestic violence).
A domestic disturbance was reported at 4:56 p.m. last Friday, May 1, in the 4900 block of Road 3.7-NE. The complainant said a female family member hit him in the face three times. Brandy Michelle Guzman, 48, Moses Lake, was arrested and booked on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).
Authorities were notified at 9:22 p.m. last Thursday, April 30, that a couple were observed arguing in the 4200 block of Airway Drive NE near Moses Lake. Deputies responded and determined a male subject was at the location in violation of a court no-contact/protection order. Tristan Lee Elliott, 25, Moses Lake, was taken into custody and booked into jail.
Authorities were notified at 5:39 p.m. last Thursday, April 30, that a male subject had gone to a location in the 7400 block of Dune Lake Road SE in violation of a court no-contact/protection order. Shawn William Needham, 55, Moses Lake, was taken into custody and booked into jail.
Authorities received a 911 hangup call at 12:13 p.m. last Thursday, April 30, from a male subject who said there was an emergency. Deputies responded to a location in the 11000 block of Dodson Road NW and determined a domestic disturbance had occurred involving a female suspect. Destiny Ray Matthynssens, 27, Ephrata, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).

EPHRATA POLICE
A report of suspicious circumstances was received at 9:24 p.m. Thursday, April 30, in the 400 block of 11th Avenue S.W. Police were told that voices were heard in a dugout at the Parkway Field baseball complex. An officer located an intoxicated male subject who was talking on the phone with a friend. The friend responded to the location and transported the man to a local motel.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 12:50 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, in the 2200 block of Basin Street S.W. Officers were told that a female subject scratched a 35-year-old male acquaintance and threw glassware during an argument. Sayda Villatoro Castro, 27, Soap Lake, was arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and third-degree malicious mischief (domestic violence).
At 9:28 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, police were notified of a juvenile runaway from Moses Lake. Officers located the 12-year-old boy in the 200 block of Nat Washington Way. When approached, the boy allegedly hit an officer and was found with marijuana in his possession. The boy was taken into custody for assault of a law enforcement officer and a controlled substance violation.
A verbal dispute was reported at 12:43 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, in the 200 block of C Street S.E. The complainant said she was moving out of an apartment and her roommmate would not allow her to take the cats, which had been moved to another location. An office explained that cats are considered personal property and the dispute was a civil matter. The complainant contacted police again around 4 p.m., claiming the cats had been stolen and it was a matter of theft. Police again advised it was a civil matter to be handled in small claims court.
A disturbance was reported at 11:43 a.m. Monday, April 27, in the 1100 block of Basin Street S.W. A Moses Lake resident told police that he saw a man littering at the location and refusing to pick up the material when confronted during an ensuing verbal argument. The complainant then blocked the alleged litterer from leaving until the debris was cleaned up. Officers arrived, separated the parties, and determined their dispute did not meet a legal threshold for criminal harassment. The one subject did clean up the litter before leaving.
A report of suspicious circumstances was reported at 6:41 p.m. Saturday, April 25, in the 100 block of First Avenue N.W. Police were told that a male subject was loitering near the Ephrata Post Office. An officer contacted the man, who was lying on the sidewalk and explained that he was “waiting on an apartment in town.” The man was advised to wait across the street at the Amtrak multi-modal center.
At 11:54 a.m. Saturday, April 25, police were advised of three unauthorized encampments in a field east of a location near Nat Washington Way SE. An officer contacted three male subjects: two were described as cooperative with packing up their tent and leaving; one was described as uncooperative and facing possible citation.
On Saturday, April 25, police located two wanted subjects camping in a van in the 100 block of Ninth Avenue S.E. The two individuals were suspects in the forced break-in of a storage shed on April 23 at St. Rose of Lima School in the 500 block of Nat Washington Way. William T. LaRoque, 42, Ephrata, and Tiffany L. Price, 35, Moses Lake, were arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of second-degree burglary, third-degree theft, and third-degree malicious mischief.
SOAP LAKE POLICE
Police were notified at 6:27 a.m. Wednesday, April 29, of large rocks in the roadway on State Route 17 just north of Soap Lake. An officer said he removed several “basketball-sized rocks” from the highway, and notified the state Department of Transportation about the ongoing hazards over the past several days.
At 1:20 p.m. Monday, April 27, a 76-year-old woman in the 600 block of Third Place S.E. told police that her son was breaking into her property and yelling and calling her names. She asked for him to be trespassed from the premises and damaging property.
At 6:05 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, police located a male subject near the intersection of State Routes 28 East and 17 North who was wanted on several outstanding district court warrants. Arturo Julian Rodriguez, 25, Moses Lake, was taken into custody on additional charges of resisting arrest and harassment/threats to kill. He was booked into the Grant County Jail.
At 1:33 p.m. last Friday, April 24, police located a wanted subject in the 100 block of C Street N.W. in Ephrata. John Robert Fencl, 54, Soap Lake, was taken into custody on outstanding district court warrants and booked into the county jail.
The following persons were cited for driving/vehicle offenses over the past week: Juan Rivas Vega, 56, Soap Lake, failure to transfer vehicle title, expired registration and no proof of vehicle liability insurance; Bobby Peters, 43, Coulee City, driving while license suspended; Kolby Brown, 32, Ephrata, driving while license suspended; two 17-year-old Soap Lake boys, no valid operators’ licenses, no proof of vehicle liability insurance, and speeding; Lea Valencia, 21, Warden, driving while license suspended; Amador Silva Ochoa, 29, Soap Lake, driving while license susended.
GRANT COUNTY SHERIFF
A trespassing incident was reported at 12:01 a.m. Thursday, April 30, in the 6900 block of Road U-SE. Authorities were told that a male subject was at the property of a female acquaintance and allegedly assaulted her. Mark Anthony Brown, 58, Tacoma, was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and booked into the Grant County Jail.
At 6:42 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, authorities were told that a male subject was filming a female acquaintance at a public fishing area along State Route 262 East in the vicinity of the Potholes Reservoir. Deputies determined the man, identified as 57-year-old Andrew Jackson Calvert IV, was in violation of a court no-contact/protection order. He was taken into custody and booked into jail.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 6:56 p.m. Tuesday, April 28, in the 17200 block of Road B.5-NE. The complainant said her sister had been assaulted by a male acquaintance. Mitchell Lee Barmore, 27, Ephrata, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).
An assault was reported at 4:51 p.m. Monday, April 27, in the 9700 block of Road 22.7-NE near Stratford. A 73-year-old resident told authorities that he was struck in the right hip by a vehicle driven by a neighbor, who also hit the complainant’s parked car, damaging a fender. Ronald Eugene Henke, 68, Stratford, was arrested near the scene and booked into jail on suspicion of assault and hit-and-run (unattended vehicle damage).
A report of suspicious circumstances was reported at 9:13 p.m. Sunday, April 26, in the 8000 block of Road 1-SE, near Warden. The complainant said a male acquaintance had been following her and a friend. Zane Daniel Hill, 20, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, was arrested on suspicion of stalking and booked into jail.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 11:07 a.m. Sunday, April 26, in the 4100 block of Orchard Drive NE near Moses Lake. The complainant said she was struck twice by a male acquaintance, who also allegedly broke some possessions. Damien Luke Alpine, 30, Moses Lake, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and malicious mischief (domestic violence).
A trespassing incident was reported at 9:02 a.m. Sunday, April 26, in the 11000 block of Neppel Road NE near Moses Lake. The complainant said a male subject had climbed over a fence and entered his business office. Gary Lee Dominguez, 66, Moses Lake, was arrested for first-degree criminal trespassing and booked into jail.
A traffic collision involving property damage was reported at 6:39 p.m. Saturday, April 25, in the 4300 block of McConihe Road NE near Moses Lake. The complainant said a driver, described as intoxicated, had crashed his vehicle through a fence. Angel Gabriel Avila Cortes, 18, Moses Lake, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of driving under the influence.
A non-injury traffic collision was reported at 7:18 p.m. last Thursday, April 23, in the 200 block of Railroad Street in Wilson Creek. Deputies were told that a child had placed a vehicle into gear while parked and the vehicle crashed into the front of the Wilson Creek Post Office.
