Three hurt in two-vehicle collision east of Quincy
Truck driver faces negligent driving charge.
QUINCY — A Quincy man faces a charge of negligent driving following a two-vehicle collision that injured three people Monday afternoon one mile east of Quincy on State Route 28, reported the Washington State Patrol.
Troopers said 62-year-old Michael D. Rose was driving south on Road O-NW in a 1989 Peterbilt 377 dump truck and failed to yield the right-of-way at the intersection stop sign. The Peterbilt collided with a 2026 Subaru Outback driven by McKay S. Hintze, 20, of Nacogdoches, Texas, who was eastbound on the highway.
The impact pushed the Subaru – which was also carrying three male passengers, all age 20 – into an adjacent irrigation ditch while the truck came to rest on eastbound shoulder of the highway.
According to the WSP report, Hintze and Noah C. Young of Layton, Utah were both transported by ambulance to Quincy Valley Hospital while Seth A. Freeman of Sparks, Nevada was taken to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. Their injuries were not specified. A third passenger, Tanner B. White of Glasgow, Montana, was not hurt.
Rose was not hurt in the collision, either. All of the individuals were wearing seatbelts.
The wreck was reported at 2:31 p.m. Monday. The Peterbilt received reportable damage while the Subaru was totaled and towed from the scene.
