EPHRATA POLICE
At 7:58 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, police received a crisis line notification of a male subject having homicidal and suicidal thoughts. An officer initially contacted the man by phone and described him as extremely intoxicated. County behavioral health personnel issued a pick-up order for the man, who was transported by police to Columbia Basin Hospital for medical clearance prior to a mental health evaluation.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 8:14 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, in the 400 block of East Division Avenue. A Moses Lake woman told police she had been in a physical altercation with a male acquaintance who was now following her vehicle. Officers located both individuals and determined the man, identified as 35-year-old Daniel Alvarez Madrigal of Moses Lake, was the aggressor and was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and booked into the Grant County Jail.
While on patrol at 3:47 a.m. Wednesday, an officer observed a male subject carrying a 5-gallon bucket while walking along Fourth Avenue N.W. The officer contacted the man and determined after an investigation that the suspect allegedly siphoned gasoline from a vehicle. Duane Alan Bolton, 31, Cashmere, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of second-degree vehicle prowl and third-degree theft.
A two-vehicle collision involving a minor injury was reported at 6:10 p.m. Monday, Aug. 31, in the 300 block of Basin Street S.W. Police said Alexandra S. Miller, 28, Soap Lake, was cited for following too close after her 2017 Jeep Cherokee struck a 2018 Toyota Corolla driven by Camilo R. Tamiche Bello, 43, of Quincy. Both vehicles sustained reportable damage.
At 7:57 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, officers located a wanted suspect near the intersection of State Route 282 and Dodson Road NW. Antonio Tavera Corona, 38, Soap Lake, was accused of assaulting a 50-year-old woman and damaging property around 10:30 p.m. Saturday in the 200 block of E Street N.E. Corona was booked into jail on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), third-degree malicious mischief (domestic violence), and an outstanding district court warrant.
At 12:11 a.m. last Sunday, Aug. 30, police were notified that a woman who ordered a pizza from an outlet in the 1100 block of Basin Street S.W. was seen slumped over the steering wheel of a parked vehicle. An officer who contacted the woman observed some aluminum foil in her lap after she awoke. The woman voluntarily handed over a small bag containing white residue, told the officer that she was fine, and agreed to walk home with her pizza.
A noise complaint was received at 10:32 p.m. last Friday, Aug. 29, in the 400 block of Eighth Avenue S.E. The complainant said he contacted neighbors regarding loud music and the neighbors in turn increased the volume louder. Officers contacted the subjects, who were celebrating a birthday, and warned them about the disturbance. The music was turned off.
SOAP LAKE POLICE
At 12:16 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, police were notified of a possible trespassing incident in the first block of South Juniper Street. An officer contacted a male subject who did not have valid permission to be on the property. A records check showed the man, identified as 64-year-old Willie Gerald Arredondo of Moses Lake, was wanted on a state Department of Corrections detention warrant. He was taken into custody and booked into the Grant County Jail.
At 11:02 a.m. last Wednesday, Aug. 26, police were notified of a 911 hangup call where people were heard yelling in the background. An officer responded to a residence in the 100 block of North Fir Street and contacted two individuals who said a 34-year-old Ephrata woman had assaulted a 36-year-old male during a dispute. A report was submitted to the Grant County Prosecutor’s Office for consideration of a domestic assault charge.
A theft was reported at 8:32 a.m. last Monday, Aug. 24. Police were told that wood had been stolen from a construction site in the 800 block of South Aster Street. Video footage in the area identified a vehicle and two suspects. An officer contacted one of the suspects, who agreed to return the stolen goods. Both suspects were trespassed from the property.
A hit-and-run incident involving vehicle damage was reported at 10:03 a.m. last Sunday. Aug. 23, in the first block of North Canna Street. A 62-year-old Wenatchee woman told police that an unknown motorist had struck her legally parked vehicle, then left the scene.
The following individuals were cited for driving with suspended licenses after recent traffic stops: Mario Knigge, 21, Moses Lake; Adelina Verchirko, 18, Tacoma.
GRANT COUNTY SHERIFF
A domestic disturbance was reported at 6:39 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 3. The complainant said her boyfriend’s uncle was trying to hit her boyfriend with a stick. Erick Ibanez, 35, no town listed, was arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence), second-degree malicious mischief, and an outstanding district court warrant.
At 8:54 a.m. Thursday, deputies located a wanted subject. Johnny Alvarez, 19, Warden, was taken into custody on a superior court arrest warrant for failure to appear or comply on an original charge of unlawful aiming or discharge of a firearm. Alvarez was booked into the county jail.
A report of unusual circumstances was received at 2:58 a.m. Thursday on State Route 283 North near the intersection of Road 2-NW. The reporting party said he encountered a car parked in the middle of the roadway and occupied by a crying woman holding her neck. Responding deputies contacted the woman and a male companion who allegedly grabbed and choked her during an argument. According to the report, both individuals appeared to have been drinking. Nicolas Calihua Panzo, 29, Quincy, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of second-degree assault (domestic violence) and felony harassment/threats to kill.
At 3:44 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2, deputies located a wanted subject on the South Sand Dunes Road near Moses Lake, Misty Jean Baker, 40, Moses Lake, was taken into custody and booked into jail on outstanding superior and district court warrants.
At 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, authorities were notified of a wrong-way driver in a white Toyota Camry approaching Ephrata. The alleged driver, 41-year-old Jose Luis Quintanilla of Quincy, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of driving under the influence.
At 11:06 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, Dorothy Louise Peters, 61, Soap Lake, was taken into custody and booked into jail on a state Department of Corrections detention warrant.
At 9:17 a.m. Tuesday, John Joseph Nava, 49, Moses Lake, was taken into custody and booked into jail on a superior court warrant for failure to register as a sex offender.
A domestic disturbance was reported at 5:25 a.m. Tuesday at an unspecified location in the Moses Lake area. The complainant said a male subject had elbowed a fellow roommate in the face. Jesse Jay Oliver 59, Moses Lake, was arrested and booked into jail on two counts of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence) and one count of harassment/threats to kill.
A report of suspicious activity was received at 7:45 p.m. Sunday at an unspecified location near Moses Lake. Authorities were told that a male subject was observed dumping trash on a roadway and, when confronted, claimed to be involved with law enforcement. Deputies arrested Ryan Scott Phelps, 43, Moses Lake, on suspicion of second-degree reckless burning and littering (greater than one cubic yard).
A domestic disturbance was reported at 9:08 a.m. last Saturday, Aug. 29, at a rural location near Ephrata. The complainant said her former boyfriend had struck a female family member. JD Keith Yarbrough, 34, Ephrata, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of fourth-degree assault (domestic violence).
A one-vehicle wreck was reported at 5:22 a.m. last Friday, Aug. 28, near the intersection of Road R-NW and Martin Road NW. Responding deputies said beer cans were observed in and around the vehicle and two male occupants, described as intoxicated, were transported to Quincy Valley Medical Center for treatment. The 19-year-old passenger sustained abdominal bleeding and a fractured femur and ankle in the wreck, according to the report. The driver, 28-year-old Joshua Eliseo Lopez Moreno of Quincy, was arrested and booked into jail on suspicion of driving under the influence and vehicular assault.
