Driver recovering at Harborview after Oct. 8 collision
SEATTLE — An Ephrata woman was listed in serious condition Friday morning, Oct. 16, at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle as she continues to recover from injuries received in an Oct. 8 vehicle collision in Grant County.
Allison Bair Younger, 36, sustained numerous broken ribs and other trauma in an early morning wreck in the 5300 block of Road 3-NW after her SUV crossed the centerline and struck a potato harvester towed behind a farm tractor. She was extricated at length by emergency rescue personnel, airlifted to a Tri-Cities hospital for initial medical care, then transferred to Harborview.
The tractor driver, who attempted to avoid the collision by driving into a field, was not hurt, reported the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
Family members said Younger likely experienced an unspecified medical episode, possibly a seizure, which led to the accident. They expressed thanks for an “outpouring of support” voiced by the community to date. A GoFundMe account has been established in her name.
