Fire agency grants, candidate forum, SL 'fall cleanup'

CBF accepting nominations for fire/EMT agency awards

EPHRATA — The Columbia Basin Foundation is accepting nominations to recognize fire departments and districts in Grant or Adams county which have made a meaningful difference in their community or service areas.

“Fire departments do amazing work every day — often without any recognition. We want to hear the story that shows why they deserve to be recognized,” the foundation says on its website.

CBF will be awarding $1,000 grants to selected agencies. The nomination period opened Oct. 1 and continues to Nov. 1.

Qualities listed by the foundation for consideration include:

  • What makes an agency’s service, commitment, or community impact stand out;
  • How did a firefighter, EMT, volunteer, dispatcher, or other team member go above and beyond the call of duty.
  • Describe an emergency, community event, rescue, response, training effort, or act of service that demonstrated exceptional teamwork.

Now in its 30th year, Columbia Basin Foundation is a public charity based in Ephrata that manages more than 160 funds to benefit a wide range of philanthropic goas and special projects in central Washington. For information, visit the website or call 509-754-4596.
