Soap Lake comprehensive plan workshop
SOAP LAKE — The second in a series of monthly workshops for public engagement in the City of Soap Lake’s comprehensive plan update is scheduled Thursday, Nov. 5, at 5:30 p.m. at the Soap Lake Senior/Community Center.
By law, municipalities in Washington must periodically update their plans, which summarize how they will address future needs on a variety of topics including land use, economic development, climate resiliency, housing, regulations and more. Topics for this Thursday’s workshop include capital facilities, utilities, and transportation.
City planner Alex Kovach is leading the local process. Upcoming workshops are scheduled on the first Thursday of each month in December, January, and February, also at 5:30 p.m.
The plans help municipalities qualify for future state grant and loan opportunities. Soap Lake’s finalized update must be submitted to the Washington Department of Commerce next summer for review.
